Welcome to Book Opening
I just love a good book opening, and I hope you do too. A good opening should grab the readers attention immediately and show him or her that in these pages you will find a story worth reading.
As someone who has read the first page of hundreds of books, I can tell you that many if not most, lack an amazing hook. Of course, what pulls one reader in may push another away, as there is a degree of individualism here, but if the intro truly represents the work, it will match the correct readers within the first page.
As a writer I have always spent the most time on the first page of any writing. I feel it is a same assumption when you pick a book up to read that the first page will be more polished than every other page in that book. So if it has any major flaws, it will put many readers off immeidately, as they know what to expect in the rest of the novel.
So join with me as we take a look at the very best (and some of the very worst) book openings. I’ll leave my brief review and leave plenty of space for you to leave one if you so desire. I will also rate each book opening from one to five stars and please feel free to add your star rating as well. We are all equal here and each rating will even out.
Please keep in mind, this is for book openings only. It’s not a rating of the novel itself, just the opening I have posted here (usually one page or less).
